Bill Rossiter
Denby

Having a long history in local activities and Council, I am William E Rossiter, more commonly known as Bill Rossiter. I would like you to vote me back as part of the Denby Ward for the Go-Whangarei Team.
Currently I am a Trustee on Northpower Electric Power Trust Representing Whangarei. From 1998 till 2001 I was elected as a Whangarei District Councillor, then for the next 15 years I became your representation on the Northland Regional Council.
I have been a successful business owner for more the 31 years (Rossiter Printing Ltd), and I have always had great interest in the welfare of Whangarei and surrounding districts.
My hobbies include trains, railways, motorcycling, gliding and power flying. At the present time I’m refurbishing a 1967 VW beetle which I hope to have on the road soon. In my personal life I have come second in the regional North Island gliding competitions and have gold and three diamond badges i.e. flown more than 500 kilometres, climbed above 5000 metres from launch release. Maximum height in a glider 26000 + feet. Married to Alison and between us we have six grown up children.
As a member of Go-Whangarei, I recognise the need to have a unified team working for Whangarei. Getting Whangarei going, and fixing the rates are really important for our young families, and getting more parking and access to the CBD shops is important for business growth. Go-Whangarei is the only choice to get this District back on track.
Some of my accomplishments are:
- 21 years as a volunteer ambulance driver
- 40 years as an active Rotarian
- 22 years as the Road Safety Co-ordinator for Northland, setting up safety programs that still operate to this day. I have also spoken on Road Safety in Sydney, Australia and in Singapore for New Zealand.
- Many years being a member of the Northland Automobile Association Committee
- In 1992 jointly won with Rodger Scampton a civic award for the cycle helmet campaign, where they were getting kids and adults to wear helmets for safety
- In 1992 won the award for Road Safety
- In 1997 was awarded the Rotary’s highest award of the Paul Harris Fellow.
- In 2014 was awarded the Queen Service Medal (QSM)
