Reuben Wright
Bream Bay

With a fresh viewpoint and a hard working attitude, I am determined to represent the people of Whangarei with honesty and integrity. As part of the Go-Whangarei collective, I aim to confront issues that have been faced by our community and not addressed by the current council. So what’s the difference between your current council representatives and myself?
Up until now, our generation has lacked representation in our council. As the future business and property owners, developers, employees, community workers and parents of our city, our generation’s voice needs to be heard and listened to. I am a new breed of councilor; someone who is passionate about the future of our city and the welfare of our people.
With a genuine interest in seeing Whangarei prosper, I will not make promises that can’t be delivered on. Free parking, free rural rubbish stations, a freeze on rates and greater funding for community projects are just a few of the positive changes I believe will encourage further growth and development.
Working for a small local company, I understand the impact that council decisions can have on the way that our businesses and communities operate. Voting Go-Whangarei aims to reduce bureaucracy. We want to give you the best possible opportunities to develop your businesses without all the unnecessary ‘jumping through hoops’.
As a young Northland homeowner, I understand the challenges that come with the constant increase to the cost of living. We need to cut unnecessary council expenditure to focus on what matters to our people. Then we will see economic growth, greater employment and safer communities, and become the city people want to visit and settle in – a true gateway to the north.
My personal interests include playing premiere rugby and all outdoor activities including diving and fishing. I am a farmer at heart and a commercial helicopter pilot by day.
With a united approach, I will work cohesively with my Go-Whangarei candidates to achieve great things for our area. Vote Reuben Wright for a positive change in your local council!
